Dust barriers are highly effective at blocking and filtering airborne coal dust. The dust suppression effect of dust barriers is superior to that of using water curtains alone. Compared to dust suppression sprays, dust barriers demonstrate a significantly more noticeable dust reduction effect, with their performance being over 20 times better than using dust suppression sprays alone. Dust barriers do not affect ventilation.

Dust barriers can be used in both retreating mining faces and development faces, as well as in isolated tunnels of development faces. They can suppress and extinguish coal dust generated by processes such as blasting and loading, although they may slightly impact transportation.

The dust removal effect of chutes is relatively poor. The main reason for this is the incomplete dust prevention structure and the excessively large flow area at the chute outlet (which is nearly open), allowing dust to escape freely without resistance. To address this issue, double or multiple layers of soft dust barriers are installed at the chute outlet. After implementation, the dust removal efficiency of the chute significantly improves, effectively controlling the free escape of dust and greatly reducing the dust concentration in coal conveying trestles.
